REVIEWS:
"Ever since this magnificent memorial of the ideals and death of
President Kennedy was first shown to a private gathering of
Government officials and motion picture critics in Washington
in November, 1964, there had been a mounting agitation by petitioners
and in the press to have it released from the Congressional stricture
against any U.S.I.A. [United States Information Agency] material
being released in this country. The purpose of the stricture is frankly
to prevent the possible use of the U.S.I.A. for distributing political
propaganda in the United States. However, the total effect of this
picture was felt to be so far above a partisan aim -- so eloquent of
our national purpose and of a universal grief -- that it would be
depriving our people to prevent them from seeing it. ....
The theme of the film, in essence, is that the spirit of the young
President still lives. .... It is a thought--and a hope--that
moves one strongly, even now."
