REVIEWS:

"1939's 'Of Mice And Men' is a beautiful film. I enjoyed it from
frame #1 through its heartbreaking finish. For those who remember
Burgess Meredith as only a villain in the 'Batman' TV series of
the 1960s, they should take a good look at this moving, splendid
motion picture (with a fine performance by Mr. Meredith). It's
hard to envision a more engaging movie. 1939 sure produced some
great ones, and this just might be the cream of the crop."

-- David Von Pein; October 14, 2002

"Hollywood, which brought [John Steinbeck's] 'Grapes of Wrath'
so magificently to the screen, has been no less reverent toward
the strangely dramatic and compassionate tale that Steinbeck called
'Of Mice and Men.' .... The pictures have little in common as narrative,
but they have much in common as art; the same deft handling of their
material, the same understanding of people, the same ability to focus
interest sharply and reward it with honest craftsmanship and skill."
