REVIEWS:

"Believe it or not, 'The Fly' happens to be one of the better, more restrained entries of the 'shock' school. .... This is a quiet, uncluttered and even unpretentious picture, building up almost unbearable tension by simple suggestion. .... One of the most appealing things about the picture is the
pretty pleasantry and chilling contrast of the everyday setting, nicely framed
in color and CinemaScope. .... This is quite a little picture. Even with the
laboratory absurdities, it holds an interesting philosophy about
man's tampering with the unknown. .... By deftly easing some nice
people in and out of a situation as pathetic as it is horrible,
[Producer-Director Kurt] Neumann has wrought the most
originally suggestive hair-raiser since 'The Thing'."
