REVIEWS:

"There are no splashy special effects at work in 1972's 'Skyjacked', just
a lot of tension on board a Boeing 707 jetliner that has been 'skyjacked' to
Russia. James Brolin is quite convincing as the bad guy who diverts the plane to Moscow. .... The movie's best scene is when pilot Charlton Heston
has to make a 'zero-zero' landing after being diverted to Anchorage (before the plane continues on to Moscow). This scene follows another good one, where Heston must maneuver his jet violently, in order to avoid a small aircraft in the same airspace. This is a good picture for an airplane lover."

-- David Von Pein; December 2001

"Skyjacked...clearly illustrates in fine color the somewhat banal idea that the skies can be unfriendly sometimes and that a basically standard melodramatic movie situation can be made diverting and occasionally gripping. Aerial hijacking is a shocking fact of life these days and 'Skyjacked,' a straightforward, simple thriller, which, if memory serves, is the first in this genre, treats it without glamour and as the madness it is. .... John Guillermin, the director, handles an essentially familiar plot with speed and efficiency. .... An instrument landing in a rain-shrouded Anchorage coupled with a near collision aloft...make for genuine tension. The performance of the principals, notably the tight-jawed [Charlton] Heston and [James] Brolin, seem natural in these extraordinary circumstances. 'Skyjacked'...[is a] pretty taut adventure most of the way."
